Carolyn Belefski

Curls Studio, founded by artist Carolyn Belefski, creates and self-publishes original comics, designs and illustrations. Carolyn writes and draws the comic strip Curls, about a gal who hangs out with adorable animals and a piece of toast. She also collaborates with writer Joe Carabeo on the comic books Kid RoxyBlack Magic Tales and The Legettes.

In 2010, Curls was nominated for the Friends of Lulu Kim Yale Award.

Beyond her self-motivated work at Curls Studio, Carolyn works professionally as an art director and designer in the Washington, DC region. She also volunteers her time to the design community through AIGA, the professional association for design, by serving on the AIGA DC Board of Directors. Carolyn graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BFA degree in Communication Arts and Design.

Carolyn has exhibited at New York Comic Con, Small Press Expo, Baltimore Comic-Con, Philadelphia Alternative Comic Con, Pittsburgh Indy Comics Expo, DC Counter Culture Festival and many other comic conventions and art fairs.
